If you have never taken a BOATING SAFETY & SEAMANSHIP CLASS then it's about time you started thinking about it. Did
you know that there are almost twice as many boats on the water today then there were just few a short years ago. And
did you know that most boaters today have no idea what boating safety is? I've been boating for more years
then I care to remember and I took the class myself. I thought with all the years of boating that I had behind me that
I knew most everything that I needed to know, BOY WAS I SURPRISED. I found out how much I didn't know about
boating safely on the Great Lakes. This class goes over most everything you will need to know about boating safely.
From understanding what those little red and green floating thingys are, to knot tying, from understanding the weather,
to plotting a course on a navigation chart. Plus again this year we are adding to our weather class the NOAA weather watcher
training so that you will become a certified weather watcher. The members of Flotilla 10-06 are looking forward to seeing you
at this years class.
USCGAUX Flotilla 10-06 is happy to announce that the 2008 B.S.&S. Class will begin on the 1st Tuesday Following the 2008 Cobo Boat Show.
Registration 1830 hours (6:30 P.M.)

Beginning this year we will be offering Advance Navigation along with our regular B.S.& S Class. This class is being offered to anyone who has already taken the Boating]
Safely course in the past and would like to take an Advanced Navigation class without having to retake the entire course. The class is 2 hours long, held over 2 days, for a total
of 4 hours of class time. The only prerequisite is that you must have already taken a Boating Safely course prior to taking the Advanced Navigation course to qualify.
For those that will be taking the Advanced Navigation course only please bring the Boating Safely certificate that you received after completing a boating safely course
when you come to sign up for the class to ensure that you will be granted a seat.
The class will be held during the regular Boating Safely course and anyone wishing to attend will join the other students on those 2 days only. Check the schedule
below for the dates that the Advanced Navigation class will be held.
Classes Will Start Promptly at 1900 Hours (7:00 P.M.)
At the end of each class there will be homework assigned and this homework will be turned in at the
beginning of the next scheduled class to be checked by a qualified member. Once we check your homework it will be returned
to you and if you are having problems in any area we will go over these areas with you. We are doing this to ensure
that when you leave this class you will be confident that you have received the best training available.
